Digitoe Develops
Scanner
PORT TOWNSEND,
Wa. ---
Digitoe, Inc, said it has developed and patented a non contact
foot scanner that can translate three-dimensional data to CAD/CAM
software to produce shoe lasts for customized footwear. In addition,
the company is planning to launch custom-fit specialty retail
stores using this technology, with the first slated to open in
Seattle by the end of 1996.
In addition to
custom-fitting shoes, the Digitoe store will offer other services,
such as technology-aided custom footwear in about two hours;
prescription footwear services and adjustments; shoe repair;
hand-made high-end custom footwear, and a branded size and width
program.
By using the
foot scanning device, the stores will be able to fit customers
with individually-assembled footwear in just a couple of hours.
The two hour service is expected to be available in men's, women's
and children's basic styles, such as casual-dress, work-inspired,
and walking shoes. |
